We were so pleased by the experience of « Êphe and Ina » from an artistic and humanistic point of view, that we decided to develop further the concept of dance for small spaces, this time integrating innovative technologies into our scenic environment.
This creation, called HISTOIRES A DANSER DEBOUT, came from four different artistic necessities:
to bring dance to a large public,
to bring out the kinesthetic connection that can be created between the dance and the audience,
to amplify the five senses through the integration of innovative technologies, and
to bring the public to the center of the performance environment in order to create a unique moment of exchange and conviviality.
HISTOIRES A DANSER DEBOUT is a contemporary dance duet inspired by stories, fairy tales, and songs that colored our childhood, as well as our adulthood. The choreography is inspired by the Perrault and Grimm Fairytales, as well as some tales of our own that we decided to create !
The idea is to use familiar story themes and settings – the wind coming up, a mysterious walk through the forest, the lost slipper, an umbrella with which we can fly - and to allow our choreographic sensibilities to recreate the story with a contemporary dance attitude.
In this way the dance grounds itself in elements and characters that are a part of the audience’s collective culture, a culture in which we are immersed all the time. We call upon the oral tradition as well as our collective memory, the traces these stories have left in our lives.
